Phone Service Restored in Silver Lake Area
Phone service for a few hundred residents in Silver Lake was restored Tuesday morning after heavy rainfall flooded cable lines.
As water filled a manhole near Vermont and Melrose avenues, the phone lines in the area began going dead about 3 p.m. Monday, said Steve Getzug, spokesman for Pacific Bell. Most of the service area affected was residential.
“We see these types of problems occasionally after heavy rains,” Getzug said. Pacific Bell received about 150 calls, he added, but there were probably more lines that were down because people either did not know or did not complain.
