Chromium Supplement Found to Damage DNA

Chromium picolinate, a food supplement that is claimed to reduce body fat and build muscle, may also cause cancer, Alabama scientists reported Tuesday at an American Chemical Society meeting in Anaheim. Chemists John B. Vincent and Stephen A. Woski reported that the chemical causes DNA breakage, which is known to lead to mutations and cancer.
