Students to Lead Seder at Care Center

Share

Students from the Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School will lead a Passover Seder today at the Chatsworth Park Care Center.

Residents of the center and 22 ninth-graders will observe the Jewish holiday by retelling the story of Israel’s liberation from bondage in Egypt and sharing the traditional Seder meal from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal will be shared with many of the center’s residents who otherwise would not have an opportunity to observe the holiday.

Chatsworth Park Care Center, at 10610 Owensmouth St., was adopted by the school. The visit is part of the school’s Project Caring, whereby students make eight visits a year to the home, volunteering time and friendship to the seniors.

“The home is nondenominational, so it’s very eclectic,” said Cindy Jacoby, the school’s spokeswoman.

Founded in 1972, Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School at 17701 Devonshire St. offers kindergarten through ninth-grade students an education in Judaic and general studies.
