Perhaps Levi Boycott Has Taken a Toll

Share

Re your article about Levi Strauss’ plan to close one-half of its U.S. plants (“End of the Line?” by Bettijane Levine, March 1):

I haven’t allowed my sons (now 16 and 18) to purchase Levi’s pants since the company refused to support the Boy Scouts when they took a stand against having homosexual Scout leaders. The American Family Assn. repeatedly asked the Levi company to take a more family-friendly position. Thus, many have joined the boycott of Levi products. The boycott has remained in effect to this day. Certainly this has taken a toll on the Levi Strauss Co.
