After years of lying fallow, the extra land at Crown Valley Church is being cultivated and half its harvest donated to a local food bank. On Sunday, congregants flowed into the new farm, with strawberry, carrot, spinach and beet seeds in hand for the first planting. The project flowered last fall after church members indicated in a survey that they would be interested in forming a community farm. A committee was formed, an irrigation system constructed and the soil was prepared, all with help from about two-thirds of the 150-member congregation.
