Service Will Feature Christian Magician

Share

Christian illusionist Eric Reamer will use the wonder of magic to illustrate and discuss the Scriptures in a performance at Orange Hills Assembly of God Church on Sunday. Through the staging of modern-day illusions, Reamer will attempt to explain complex Gospel messages.

One of his tricks begins with an audience member sentenced to a mock execution in a 7-foot-high guillotine. Reamer’s wife and assistant, MeLinda, volunteers to accept the punishment, facilitating Reamer’s discussion on how Jesus Christ died to bring new life for others.

Reamer, an Orange County native, has been interested in magic since he was a young boy but only began using it to preach in 1989. He is a past president of the national Fellowship of Christian Magicians.

Reamer assures his audience that Christian magicians don’t perform the kind of magic condemned in the Bible, such as witchcraft or sorcery. “We just use the magic tricks and illusions to illustrate and symbolize truth,” Reamer said.

His performance will be during the church’s evening service, which starts at 6 p.m. at 491 N. Hewes St., Orange. Information: (714) 633-5091. For information on the Fellowship of Christian Magicians, call Reamer at (877) 464-3742.
