Pinkerton’s Expands Contract With GM

Share

Pinkerton’s Inc. in Westlake Village has won a long-term contract expansion to provide security services to General Motors Corp. in Canada and Mexico.

With a projected value of nearly $168 million over eight years, the contract includes an option for GM to extend the agreement beyond 2006, although the value of the potential extension is undetermined.

The agreement is in addition to the $1.1-billion, eight-year security contract awarded last November to Pinkerton by GM and Delphi Automotive Systems for their U.S. operations. Together, these contracts represent the consolidation of GM’s security program under a single North American agreement.

Under the expanded contract, Pinkerton will continue to provide uniformed security officer and patrol services to GM’s plants and facilities in Canada and Mexico. The company will also provide security consulting, investigations and personnel protection, as well as services relating to intellectual property protection, crisis management and security-systems integration.

Pinkerton’s partnership with General Motors dates back five years.

The security company provides services to the auto maker in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Asia, Latin America and Portugal.
