Gun Measure

Share

I just don’t get it. I am a card-carrying Republican from a large family of gun owners and gun collectors. What I can’t understand is why the Senate didn’t pass a measure requiring background checks on firearms sales at gun shows (May 13). I believe in a law-abiding citizen’s right to possess firearms and I believe that honest citizens had nothing to fear from this measure.

We have got to get past this “Big Brother is chipping away at our rights” mentality. I have news for the National Rifle Assn.--if we don’t start doing something to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, eventually Big Brother will lower the boom.

Voluntary background checks? Of all the insults to the intelligence and concerns of the electorate coming from Washington, this has got to be one of the worst. People kill people, yes, but more importantly people with guns kill people.

After rejecting gun control legislation, Congress orders a study to prove that guns don’t kill people, movies kill people. Or is it a Congress that is owned by the NRA?
