Documentary Screening, Discussion Mark Holocaust

Share

As part of international Remembering the Holocaust month, the public is invited to participate in a video screening and discussion from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The video program is a PBS documentary, “Weapons of the Spirit,” which chronicles efforts to save Jews in a French village during World War II.

Ann Litvin, a longtime Brea educator whose family was decimated by the Nazis in World War II, will moderate the post-screening discussion.

The documentary has been shown in classrooms around the nation, and families are invited to bring children 10 and older.

Litvin also encourages visitors to bring pencils, stationery and drawing pads for questions, comments and sketches she will forward to Pierre Sauvage, the Los Angeles filmmaker who spent more than 12 years making the documentary.

The event, which includes a potluck dinner, will be held at the Brea home of a local college faculty member. For reservations and directions, call Litvin at (714) 671-0707.
