U.S. Military

Share

For several years now, our military budget has been cut back so far that we can barely keep our weapons ready for war. Go to any Army, Navy or Air Force combat unit and ask them how they are keeping the weapons in readiness. You will find that they can’t keep all weapons ready, because they have to scavenge from one weapon to keep another going.

Sixty years ago, prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, our military was so weak that the Army substituted trucks for tanks on maneuvers. Fortunately, distance and miscalculations by the enemy gave us time to build a war machine the likes which had never been seen before. This scenario is impossible now, with almost instant, long-distance attack weapons available to any potential enemy.

Doves and hawks alike should unite in a common cause--build a defensive military that will deter war, its sheer size and power making it foolhardy for any aggressive military machine to think long and hard before challenging us.
