Democrats to Honor Local, State Officials

The Democratic Party of Ventura County will recognize state legislators and several local officials Sunday at its Spring Recognition Awards Celebration.

The event, held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the home of Oxnard Mayor Manuel Lopez, will honor state Sen. Jack O’Connell (D-San Luis Obispo), Assemblywoman Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) and Ventura County Supervisors John Flynn, Kathy Long and Susan Lacey.

Ventura County Supt. of Schools Charles Weis and local Democratic Chairman Hank Lacayo will serve as masters of ceremonies.

Food, music and a silent auction are part of the annual celebration. Tickets are $25 each, or $40 for two. For more information, call 445-9901.
