For Unintentional Scratch Mixes

If one too many of your CDs has been destroyed as a result of floating around caseless in a glove compartment or purse, Wipe Out may be the answer. Claiming to restore scratched CDs to full playability, the new product (introduced at last week’s Electronic Entertainment Expo) was created by L.A. optician Daniel Henry who, when tinkering in his lab making glasses, noticed his favorite CD skipping.

He had a brainstorm: What if there were a way to eliminate scratches without harming the digital information on a disc? The result was the Wipe Out CD Repair Kit, $14.99. One drop of the secret liquid sandpaper solution applied with the nonabrasive polishing cloth may make a CD sound as good as new.

“Scratches on compact discs are optical problems, not digital problems,” says company Chief Executive Marc Guest. “Wipe Out effectively interacts with the polymer, and allows you to wipe the scratch right out of your disc.”

Whatever it does, it works for CD-ROMs, DVDs and multimedia discs as well. Each kit contains enough solution to restore about 40 CDs. For information, call (877) WIPE-OUT or log onto https://www.cdrepair.com.
