For the first time in more than 50 years, the Newport Harbor Lions Club will move its annual Fish Fry from its home in Lions Park to the Orange Coast College campus. Organizers expect attendance at this year’s event, scheduled for June 4 to 6, to jump from the usual 40,000 to a whopping 100,000 or more. The Fish Fry has outgrown its location at Lions Park, where there isn’t nearly enough parking or room to add more events. By moving the Fish Fry to the college, the Lions Club gains 7,000 parking spaces, said Bill Johnson, club member. With the additional space, the Lions Club is also offering a bigger and better carnival. It has contracted with Ray Cammack, the carnival operator that works the Orange County Fair.
