From Staff Reports

The Big Sky Conference will review videotape of a postgame fight between players after a women’s soccer game between Cal State Northridge and Idaho State on Sunday at North Campus Stadium.

Big Sky officials requested videotape of the melee and might mete out disciplinary action as soon as today, a conference spokesperson said.

The fight erupted immediately after Northridge recorded a 1-0 overtime victory on a goal by Gentry Green. During the victory celebration, Northridge players tore at a pinata resembling a Bengal tiger, the Idaho State mascot. No injuries were reported.

Northridge administrators met Monday with Matador Coach Allison Lee and players, but no decisions were made.

Dick Dull, Northridge athletic director, said the school will await the Big Sky’s decision.

“What we want to do is review everything,” Dull said. “We need to see what the conference’s position is. It’s one of those things that happened and, hopefully, we can put the regrettable incident behind us.”
