Halloween Is for Kids

I’m writing in response to your recent article, “Saying Boo! to Halloween” (Oct. 27), in which you were talking about people who do not celebrate Halloween because they believe it to be a pagan ceremony celebrating Satan. Nothing could be further from the truth.

It may be true that the custom of Halloween originated with pagans and it may be true that, if you wanted to, you could probably find a satanic ceremony occurring on Halloween night, but the fact is, Halloween today is primarily a children’s holiday which celebrates friendship, community, imagination and the urge to consume massive amounts of sugar.

I, personally, see nothing wrong with any of this.
