From Times Wire Reports

Police armed with batons and backed by armored vehicles waded into an anti-government rally in Belgrade, the Yugoslav and Serbian capital. More than 2,000 people, among them students, marched on parliament. Student leaders said about 50 people were hurt in the crackdown. Some wounded demonstrators were left lying on the pavement. Others fled, shouting “Slobodan to The Hague!” referring to the Netherlands-based U.N. tribunal that has charged Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic with war crimes. Lawmakers loyal to Milosevic, meanwhile, unexpectedly agreed to consider opposition demands for early elections.
