Those who are still on the fence about flu shots might want to visit the American Lung Assn.’s Web site at https://www.lungusa.com to learn about the important first line of defense. And just in time for the cold and flu season, the folks from “Sesame Street” are launching a new awareness project, called “Sesame Street Goes to the Doctor.” Information about the awareness campaign has just been mailed to pediatricians and child-care providers throughout the country.

Produced by Children’s Television Workshop and Pfizer, the project includes a 15-minute video about the proper use of antibiotics (influenza is caused by viral bugs, not bacterial ones and antibiotics don’t work against viruses).

There is also a special issue of Sesame Street Parents magazine about caring for kids with respiratory infections. You’ll find the video at your pediatrician’s office; the magazine and a poster are offered free at 877-CHILDEAR.
