Hairstylist Cristophe Schatteman, who gave President Clinton a haircut aboard Air Force One at Los Angeles International Airport more than six years ago, causing a traffic jam on the tarmac, is opening his first Orange County salon at Fashion Island on Nov. 30.

“We were looking at a lot of different markets, like New York and San Francisco and Seattle, but we picked Orange County because it is really kind of an emerging market in terms of retailers and service providers,” spokeswoman Anne Neuwirth said. “If you look at all the shops open in Fashion Island, South Coast Plaza and Mission Viejo, it’s really kind of a booming market.”

Cristophe Salon, which boasts clients such as Nicole Kidman, Goldie Hawn and Steven Spielberg, charges about $90 for a haircut and $100 to $200 for bleaching roots. A cut from Christophe himself, who will likely work at the Newport Beach salon about four days a month, costs about $250.
