Ex-Judge in Norfolk Convicted in Attack

A former judge who authorities say pistol whipped a Virginia state legislator was convicted of unlawful wounding. Former Norfolk Judge Luther Edmonds had been charged with malicious wounding, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, but the Circuit Court jury found him guilty of the lesser charge, which is punishable by up to five years in prison. William P. Robinson Jr., a Democrat, was attacked nearly two years ago by a masked man outside his Norfolk law office on Dec. 29, 1997.
