Tar Heels Win Maui Title

LAHAINA, Hawaii — North Carolina’s backcourt of senior Ed Cota and freshman Joseph Forte combined for 36 points, leading the fourth-ranked Tar Heels to a 90-75 victory over No. 22 Purdue on Wednesday night in the championship of the Maui Invitational.
Cota scored 15 points and had seven assists and Forte had 21 points for North Carolina (3-0). Greg McQuay scored 17 points for Purdue (2-1).
In the third-place game, Mike Miller scored 18 points to lead No. 6 Florida (3-1) to a 72-62 victory over the Georgetown (2-2).
