With his big, bruising teammates clogging up the middle, Portland’s Damon Stoudamire took over from the outside.

Stoudamire scored 16 points during a key third-quarter run and the Trail Blazers held Kevin Garnett to 11 points in an 88-81 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night at Minneapolis.

“One of those things,” said the 5-foot-10 Stoudamire, who made two three-pointers during the run. “My teammates were getting me the ball and my shots were falling.”

Stoudamire and Steve Smith finished with 18 points for Portland, which won for the seventh time in eight games. Scottie Pippen had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Trail Blazers.

Rasheed Wallace and 7-foot-3 Arvydas Sabonis harassed Garnett into a four-for-24 shooting night. He finished with 19 rebounds.

San Antonio 121, Boston 98--Tim Duncan scored 31 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and scared the Spurs when he hit teammate David Robinson in the head as San Antonio cruised to a victory at Boston.

Robinson left for the locker room with 1:21 left in the half and San Antonio leading, 60-39, after being hit by Duncan on a follow shot. But he returned to play the first eight minutes of the third quarter before sitting out the rest of the game.

Orlando 112, Dallas 100--Darrell Armstrong scored a career-high 33 points as the Magic defeated the Mavericks at Orlando, Fla.

Armstrong, whose previous high was 29 points, made 12 of 20 shots, including six of 11 three-pointers. Michael Finley led Dallas with 35 points on 15-of-34 shooting.
