Cota and Newby to Plead Not Guilty
North Carolina players Ed Cota and Terrence Newby will plead not guilty to misdemeanor assault charges when they appear in court at Chapel Hill, N.C., on Dec. 6, their attorney said.
Cota, considered one of the best point guards in the nation, and Newby were charged with three counts each of assault inflicting serious injury and two counts of simple assault after a brawl on campus Halloween night.
