SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

For third-, fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade students who need help with their schoolwork or don’t have a place to study at home, the Homework Club at Carl E. Gilbert Elementary School is starting up again. Teachers Philip Yates and Kathryn Sampilo will assist students for an hour and a half once a week beginning today. Yates, a fourth-grade teacher, said the club began several years ago and has spawned other after-school workshops that help struggling students improve their grades. Yates said the workshops offer a good opportunity for students to get extra attention from teachers.
