The City Council is considering forming an ad hoc committee to create a policy that will be used by tree inspectors when considering tree removal permits for sick eucalyptus trees. Redgum lerp psyllids, bugs that are known to cause damage to eucalyptus trees by creating a sticky residue on their leaves and making them vulnerable to long horn beetles, are a growing problem in some neighborhoods in the city. There are no effective solutions in dealing with the insect.
