Mom Loves Pokemon

Share

I am, I’m hesitant to admit, a Pokemon mom (proven by the fact that I was in line with my 10-year-old and his best friend at the Burbank Pokemon Training Tour three hours before it started). It was an extremely well-organized event from Nintendo and an incredible opportunity for the kids to be a part of a community all their own. It was a warm feeling to see so many kids--regardless of their race or affluence--be on the same playing field, speaking the same language.

Upon reading your article (“The Gen-P Gold Mine,” Oct. 2), I was surprised to learn the amount of reediting and rewriting that 4Kids Productions does to “Americanize” each Pokemon TV episode. My kids and I find the show very entertaining and funny--it puts this season’s two new Pokemon knockoffs to shame. I truly believe that if the TV show were of less quality and entertainment value, this craze would not be as long-lasting. My thanks to Norman Grossfield and 4Kids Productions for creating a show that I can enjoy watching with my kids.
