Mortgage lenders do not require a termite report if you’re buying a brand-new house. Before a home is built, the developer must chemically pre-treat the soil underneath the foundation as a preventive measure.

You can, however, hire a termite inspector to make sure the home is free of conditions that might lead to an infestation.
