Alexander Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide’s Los Angeles office has been named the agency of record for PlanetOut, a San Francisco-based lesbian and gay online portal. In addition to handling media and public relations, Alexander Ogilvy will stage special events for PlanetOut, a privately held company that recently drew $16.4 million in funding from such companies as America Online, Mayfield Fund and Eden Capital. PlanetOut describes itself as “the leading worldwide online community of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.”
