CALIFORNIA : PEOPLE IN BUSINESS : Tarrant Apparel Group Names Retail Consultant as Chief Financial Officer

Tarrant Apparel Group has appointed Scott Briskie chief financial officer, succeeding Mark Kristof, who will step down from the board of directors and continue to work with the company as a consultant. Briskie was most recently a consultant for such retailers as Limited, Lerner New York and Henri Bendel. In July, Tarrant Apparel, a Los Angeles-based maker of women’s casual clothing, lowered its earnings estimate for the year and revised downward by 13% its expected annual sales, to $415 million.

* Elite Information Group, a Palm Springs-based company that provides financial and practice management systems to professional services firms, has appointed Mark Goldin president of its new subsidiary, Elite.com Inc. The new unit, which is based in Los Angeles, will offer time and billing services for solo practitioners and small firms. Goldin previously served as senior vice president and chief technical officer of another subsidiary, Elite Information Group.

* Los Angeles real estate investment firm Lowe Enterprises Inc. has named Philip R. Peters president of its subsidiary, Lowe Commercial Corp., which is a venture partner with Teachers Insurance & Annuity of America in a commercial development project.
