Many Charitable Groups Deserve an A Rating

The article “Following Your Dollar” (Aug. 31) provides essential information to donors as they consider making a contribution to a charitable agency.

However, the article does not make it clear that [Daniel] Borochoff’s organization, American Institute of Philanthropy, rates only national nonprofit organizations. The agencies you list are doing fine work, but there are literally hundreds of additional local charitable organizations in the Los Angeles area that meet Mr. Borochoff’s standards for an A rating. As fund development counsel to several such organizations, I urge your readers to get involved, to ask questions and to give generously and wisely.
