Hurricane Gert May Threaten Bermuda

From Times Wire Reports

Hurricane Gert may still be a threat to Bermuda, and residents of the Atlantic island need to keep a watchful eye on the storm, the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami reported. “All interests in Bermuda should monitor this storm carefully,” John Juiney of the center said. The director of the forecast office in Bermuda said residents were preparing in case the storm hit, but Gert was expected to remain 175 miles south of Bermuda for three days. Gert has top sustained winds of about 120 mph, making it a Category 3 hurricane on the Saffir Simpson Hurricane Scale of 1 to 5--a major hurricane that could cause “significant damage.” Gert’s track was reported to be toward the northwest at about 10 mph.
