Rosenberg’s Roast

Share

Howard Rosenberg’s satiric sendup of Diane Sawyer’s interview with little Elian Gonzalez was far too gentle (“Sawyer Soldiers On, Omitting One Little Item,” March 31). Sawyer and her sister in sleaze, Barbara Walters, have managed to do what I would have thought impossible--lower the ethical standards of ABC/Disney.

Walters’ unctuous assist to the parents of JonBenet Ramsey as they wallowed in the celebrity provided them by the brutal murder of their child was merely disgusting. But Sawyer’s blatant aid to Elian’s distant Miami relatives in their ongoing effort to steal the boy from his father bordered on the criminal.

This is a new low in television pandering for ratings--broadcast child abuse.

May I sing the praises of Howard Rosenberg for his hilariously brilliant column satirizing ABC and Diane Sawyer, one of the most overpaid phonies among the dozens of overpaid phonies on TV.

Howard is the best, most readable TV critic in America. And he’s apparently the only one who sees right through such jokes as Sawyer.
