Nuke the ‘Chokes

I enjoyed the article on artichokes (“Spring’s Lovable Oddballs,” April 5). But it surprised me that you did not indicate the super-fast way of cooking them. This method fits what I call “guy cooking”--fast and easy, with minimal cleanup. After cleaning the artichokes, partially drain them, then put them in a microwave bowl covered with punctured plastic wrap. Microwave on full power for only 6, maybe 7 minutes for each artichoke. For singles this is super-fast. For four artichokes, this is still less than 30 minutes. Also, cleanup time is less because they are eaten out of the cooking bowl. Ranch dressing is great on it--also fast!
