‘Babydol’ Trial

Share

Re “ ‘Babydol’ Convicted on Three Counts Involving International Call Girl Ring,” April 8: I am appalled at the conspiracy of the judge, the prosecuting attorney, the police and the jurors in committing Jody “Babydol” Gibson to eight years in prison for pimping, while her customers go scot-free or not even mentioned (April 8). Why aren’t they being tried too?

No one was injured, no one was robbed, no one was deceived, no minors were involved. How is it that in these mutually agreed transactions, only she is guilty of criminal conduct? Who is on that list of customers?

Whenever the police or a publicity-seeking district attorney wants to get headlines, nothing works better than busting a willing, high-priced call girl. Nobody seems to care about the abused streetwalker and her abusive pimp (that’s not headline material). The massive waste of police resources and taxpayer money involved in the prosecution of a mutually agreeable and completely unforced transaction is unforgivable in a time of low budgets and violent crime.
