Re “Quackenbush Let Insurer Avoid State Investigation,” April 7:

It was abundantly clear before Insurance Commissioner Chuck Quackenbush ever took office that he would never bite the insurance hand that feeds him. So what else is new? For the past decade, Californians have consistently elected people dedicated to taking care of the financial interests of corporations over their own interests. This is what the people of California want. They do not want people representing them who would force companies to pay claims or do anything else that would hurt the profits of corporations. The fact that the insurance commissioner is apparently taking bribes is of no interest to the average Californian.

I now understand why I pay so much money in insurance premiums to Fireman’s Fund--so they can donate it to political causes. I find it quite disturbing and quite unbelievable but not the least bit surprising.

I hate to say I told you so, but shouldn’t even the dumbest among us know better than to vote for a Republican for insurance commissioner?
