Butterfly

Re “Rare Butterfly Found at Development Site,” April 10: That the preservation of the habitat of an insect with the life span of five days should take precedence over a medical research center or housing for homeless or low-income families is preposterous. How much longer will the public tolerate the stupid excesses of the environmentalists to preserve all manner of flora and fauna, regardless of their contributions to society?

If by some miracle we could eliminate the cockroach and housefly, I’m sure the environmentalists would object.
