Share

Applications will be accepted through June 1 for the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts’ 2000-2001 Arts Recognition and Talent Search Program for young artists.

The program provides $3 million in scholarship money nationwide to high school seniors, and will also select up to 50 finalists for the 2001 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts award, with the final recipients to be chosen by the White House.

Applicants in nine categories--dance, music-jazz, music-instrumental, music-voice, photography, theater, film and video, visual arts and writing--must be high school seniors, 17 or 18 years of age and American citizens or legal residents.

Scholarships are available at nearly 100 colleges, universities and conservatories nationwide.

Some 125 applicants will be selected for ARTS Week 2001, an all-expenses-paid program of master classes, performances, workshops and other activities taking place in Florida in January.

ARTS Week participants will earn cash awards of $100 to $3,000, based on a standard of excellence for their age and art form.
