Investor Acquires Carson Industries

Share

Glendora-based specialty plastics maker Carson Industries has been acquired by one of its investors. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Guy E. Marge, also of Glendora, said he plans to expand the company through acquisitions in the U.S. and abroad, something Carson’s former holding company, Novamil, was reluctant to do. Marge headed Novamil for the last 11 years, but became chief executive of Carson when Novamil bought it out. Carson, which had pretax earnings of $6 million on revenue of $60 million last year, makes plastic storage boxes for underground cable and railroad signals, as well as irrigation lines. The company has 400 workers worldwide, including 175 in La Verne and Rancho Cucamonga. The company also owns plants in Mississippi and Ohio, and one in Ireland. Marge said the company plans to serve more overseas telecom and railroad customers by building a factory in Asia.
