Farm Labor Fines
* Re “Opposite Views Arise on Farm Labor Fines,” April 19: I have been a bilingual teacher for 10 years. Most of my students have been children of migrant field workers. I have had more students admitting that they themselves have worked in the fields than acknowledge knowing who Cesar Chavez was.
What a shame on both accounts. Accountability of education should expand to other arenas. The state has turned a blind eye to the agricultural industry.
