I’m based in Richmond, Va., and I launched the frozen-novelty industry back in 1921 with my “I-Scream-Bar.” In 1934, I added a stick. Today I market a broad range of ice cream and sorbet products under my own name as well as the Real Fruit, Welch’s, Weight Watchers Smart Ones, SnackWell’s and Oreo names. I also supply soft-serve ice cream and more to the food-service industry. I recently agreed to be bought out by CoolBrands International of Canada. Who am I?

I was born in 1992 and bought by U.S. Robotics in 1995. A year later I introduced some groundbreaking computers that fit in pockets. In 1997 I became a subsidiary of 3Com Corp., but in 1999 3Com decided to spin me off. I’m the world leader in my niche, with a market share of 68% and sales in more than 35 nations. My offerings allow you to check your e-mail on a golf course, surf the Web on a ski slope, and look up an address in the middle of a meeting.
