Most N.J. Flood Victims Go Home
Most of the hundreds of residents who were forced out of their homes by floods were able to return Wednesday as the water receded.
Downpours on Monday and Saturday damaged thousands of homes and wiped out dozens of bridges, roads and dams in northwest New Jersey.
Gov. Christine Todd Whitman has requested that the Clinton administration declare Morris and Sussex counties federal disaster areas. Damage was estimated at more than $100 million.
Officials said 2,700 residences and businesses in the counties reported flood damage.
