Korean Reunions

Share

* It filled me with emotion to read about the tearful reunions that happened simultaneously in Pyongyang and Seoul (“Amid Tears, Koreans Cross 50-Year Divide,” Aug. 16). It seems to dwarf the political spectacle in L.A.

The poignancy of the situation is made greater because the vast majority of those millions of divided family members are not able to even correspond, much less meet in person. Would it help for a Web site to be set up with messages listed by name? I’m sure that the North Korean government would not appreciate this idea, but if there are enough people with Internet connections there, it would be hard to stop family members from finally communicating.
