If you are female, hold an MBA and work in the technology industry, chances are you’re more happy with your job and optimistic about your future than your male colleagues, says a new study by Catalyst, a nonprofit research and advisory group for women.

The survey of roughly 2,000 respondents showed that 91% of women with MBAs report high levels of satisfaction with their current information technology jobs, compared with 82% of men with MBAs in the same field. What’s more, the women said they feel good about their visibility with top management (82%), the support of their colleagues (74%) and the feedback they receive (59%).

Catalyst officials said the study shows that women see technology companies as a fertile work environment for personal development and suggests that the ability to manage people and systems is highly regarded in the tech field.

“This translates into opportunity for the women in this growing industry,” said Sheila Wellington, president of New York-based Catalyst. “They’re essentially telling us, ‘This is the place to be.’ ”
