HARRISBURG, Pa. —
Friends and relatives of Thomas W. Druce, a once-rising state politician, posted $600,000 bail Tuesday, hoping to free him for Christmas while he appeals a prison sentence issued after pleading guilty in a hit-and-run traffic death.
A Dauphin County judge set bail for Druce, 39, on orders from the state Supreme Court. The trial judge, who sentenced him to two to four years in prison, had denied bail.
Druce is contesting his sentence for killing Kenneth Cains of Harrisburg, claiming the judge was biased.
