Former CIBA Vision Exec to Head STAAR Surgical; Avery Promotes 3

* STAAR Surgical Co., a Monrovia-based maker of ophthalmic medical devices, has appointed David Bailey president and chief executive. He also will be a member of the company’s board of directors. Bailey is a former global president of CIBA Vision Corp.’s surgical business unit in Atlanta.

* Avery Dennison Corp., the Pasadena-based label maker, has announced promotions of three members of its senior management team.

* Robert van Schoonenberg has been appointed executive vice president, general counsel and secretary. Diane Dixon has been promoted to senior vice president, worldwide communications and advertising. J. Terry Schuler has been named senior vice president, human resources.

* Real estate developer Castle & Cooke Inc., based in Westlake Village, has appointed Chief Financial Officer Edward Roohan president and chief operating officer.

* Mark Koehler has been named senior vice president, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Online. He will oversee all planning, development, creative, technical, marketing and financial functions for the newly formed Walt Disney Co. group, which links the company’s travel-oriented sites and theme parks.

* John Cooney has been named regional manager at Management Solutions Inc., a Torrance-based staffing and servicing firm. He will oversee daily business operations for the Los Angeles region.
