The Girl Scout Council of Orange County will open a 6,100-square-foot program center Saturday on Casa Loma Avenue. Local volunteers said they have worked to get this facility for more than 20 years.

“It’s hard for troops here to find a place to meet,” said Jackie Self, membership director for the region and a Yorba Linda resident and volunteer for 32 years. “This will not only give them that, but also provide visibility for the Girl Scouts in Yorba Linda.”

The Girl Scout Council of Orange County serves 26,000 girls, with 2,000 of them in Yorba Linda. This is the council’s seventh center in the county.
