Last weekend’s Surfline Surfing Championships drew good waves, 265 amateur competitors and checks for local programs. From the proceeds, committee members of the second annual event were able to donate $1,000 to McGaugh Elementary School’s special education program and $1,000 to the Surfrider Foundation. Wave forecaster Sean Collins and his company Surfline donated $1,000 toward a proposed Seal Beach Surfing Hall of Fame. Shortly after the Hall of Fame donation, two private donors added $2,000 to the fund.
