Trimedyne Sees $484,000 Loss for 1st Quarter

Trimedyne Inc., an Irvine maker of surgical lasers, reported a net loss of $484,000, or 4 cents a share, for the three months ended Dec. 31, compared with a profit of $5.5 million, or 50 cents a share, a year ago. The profit included a $6.5-million gain on the settlement of a lawsuit. Revenue for the first quarter increased 33% to $2 million. The company’s stock hit a 52-week high of $4.44 early in Friday’s trading session, then retreated to close at $3.59, down 47 cents a share.
