Health Line Takes 11,000 Calls in Week

A record 11,000 calls were made to the Health Care District’s Health Line last week.

Established in 1990, the Health Line is a 24-hour call center for residents with questions about cancer, heart disease, first aid, skin disorders and a host of other health-related topics.

Officials in the Camarillo Health Care District said they’ve been busy with various health issues during the past year, indicated in part by the number of flu shots dispensed in the fall.

Marilyn Adams, a registered nurse and district wellness coordinator, said 621 people have been inoculated against the flu that has dogged many since the season began in October. She said the previous high was the 450 flu shots administered two years ago.
