From Times Wire Reports

Right-wing Colombian death squads killed at least 16 unarmed villagers after guerrilla attacks on towns and electrical towers that forced power rationing, authorities said. Paramilitary fighters killed at least nine men in hamlets outside Yarumal, about 185 miles northwest of Bogota, the capital, and seven others in a village outside Becerril in the northern state of Cesar. Some villagers were killed simply for being friendly to guerrillas who passed through dressed as civilians, an official in Yarumal said.
