On Thin Ice

Why in the world was dance reviewer Jennifer Fisher assigned to Target Stars on Ice (“Glitzy Star Turns Make for Slick Ice-Show Fun,” Jan. 17)? Competitive figure skating is covered by the Sports section, and although exhibition-style skating shows can be critiqued, it should be as entertainment.

Figure skating does contain elements of artistry and choreographic interpretation, but it is not dance and should not be reviewed as such. Surely Angelenos are sophisticated enough to know the difference. Why isn’t The Times?
